Five are the main trends in shoes for spring/summer 2021: many are the models that are dredged up from the ’90s, such as clogs, but there will also be room for the great classics of the summer, such as sandals and (new) ballerinas.
The protagonists will be the flat models, while the heels will be few but good: you will have to choose whether to take sides between the lovers of kitten heel, low and practical or in the category of those who are not afraid of height, because the heels will be high, in exaggerated volumes and very thin.
Just as in clothing, also among the spring/summer 2021 shoes could not miss a return of the 90s, where some designers dust off the clogs (yes, you got it right!) and flip-flops in a bold version, rich in details and in XL version.
Next season’s main shoe trends will be 5
Next season will officially crown the kitten heel: low, refined and very wearable, it is perfect to complete all outfits both day and office. Its height varies from 3 to 5 centimeters, and this is the feature that makes this type absolutely versatile.
In the 2021 collections, open toe models alternate with closed and pointed ones, and the palette extends from dusty, softer and delicate shades to typically spring-like ones, such as lilac, mint green and soft yellow.
Among the spring/summer 2021 shoes, the high heel is not forgotten, but among its variants there are no half-measures: alongside the kitten heel there are in fact very high models with exaggerated volumes, such as the fluorescent touch proposed by Versace, or very thin and clean shapes, such as the total black proposal with yellow detail by Prada.
Beloved or hated: for ballerinas there is no feeling in between. More versatile than pumps with heels and flat models, ballet flats are a true certainty of the female wardrobe, so as to be positioned as a wild card piece that easily completes any type of look.
If matched with a pair of boyfriend jeans, a light shirt and a blazer with an over cut, they will give a touch of bon ton to your daytime outfit, especially for the office ones, but in the evening they are the perfect alternative to the classic high heel.
To dominate the new spring/summer 2021 collections will be the pointed and richly detailed ballet flats, such as the return of Valentino’s studs but in an XL version or the “Leap” model proposed by ASOS Design, with a sparkling asymmetrical strap that connects the toe to the closure. These will be flanked by more sober proposals with an ankle strap and in delicate pastel shades, like the model seen on the Giorgio Armani runway.
This year’s sandals are based on one big slogan: flat is better! Forget about jewel sandals, sparkling or with very high heels, because in 2021 sandals will be low and made with minimal lines and natural materials.
Alongside straw and raffia weaves, like the one proposed by RAID with a strap on the back, next year this model will also feature the foulard effect, which with its colorful prints will wrap around the foot and ankle.
Some heights will also appear, but never exaggerated and always well anchored to the ground: in spring/summer 2021 shoes, high sandals will have a wide and squared heel, perfect to be shown off at any time of day! Finally, not to be forgotten is the flip-flop trend, which will dress most of the models.
The 90s have never been so close: in view of the next summer season, Hermès dusts off the clogs, which it reinterprets in a more minimal and conceptual version.
Already a protagonist for a few seasons now, the sculpted heel has officially entered among the fashion trends of spring/summer 2021 shoes. In his collection, Salvatore Ferragamo proposes an hourglass heel with a strap and a rounded toe.
If you are ticklish between your fingers, this trend is definitely not for you. On the other hand, if you love the flip-flop detail you will love the model proposed by Sportmax: low sandal with rounded detail and minimal straps.
We had already caught a glimpse of it in the fall collections, but the rain boot will be one of the big stars in the coming season too, especially in spring. Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini proposes a black model, with special details and buckle.
2020 has rediscovered comfort, and 2021 will carry on this trend also when it comes to shoes. Slippers will be maxi, with XL volumes and details, just like those proposed by Valentino.
